Parkwood High School persues Academy status
Last year the Governors of Parkwood chose to pursue becoming an Academy. They did this after a lot of debate and also after taking account of the views of parents, students, teachers and partners within the local community. After they took this decision they met a partner who wishes to work with the school and to sponsor Parkwood in becoming an Academy. This partner is a charitable trust called Edutrust.
Over the coming weeks there is a chance to learn more about what becoming an Academy will mean for Parkwood and there is the chance to get involved in a debate and to give your views. In addition to the meetings listed in the attached letter I am very happy to meet with any parent or carer at any time to discuss the issue. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you wish to come and have a chat.
I feel that Parkwood will benefit from becoming an Academy. I feel that Edutrust are the right partners and sponsor – they are totally committed to principles of inclusion, partnership with the community and high achievement for all young people.
In the very near future you will receive a copy of the report written following our recent inspection by Ofsted (two weeks ago). The inspectors made the judgement that Parkwood is a good school with many things in it that are outstanding. The inspectors also said that we are continuing to improve and that we are on our way to becoming outstanding in all areas. I believe that becoming an Academy will help and support this improvement over the coming years and will secure a very bright and vibrant future for the school.
Can I encourage you to come to the meetings and give your views over the coming weeks?
