Headteachers Welcome
I became the Head Teacher of Parkwood High School in September 2005. I hope that the reaons you are choosing or considering Parkwood for your son or daughter are similar to the reasons that i wanted to become the Headteacher
- The school is small enough for the the staff to properly know the young people in the school and to also develop close working relationships with their families.
- There is an outstanding record of improvement in examination results and plenty and plenty of potential to continue improving.
- The school is at the heart of an established, vibrant community that is developing and changing in many positive ways. The school will continue to develop to become a full "extended school" where the school day is just one part of the activities that take place on the school site.
- The school is purposeful and focused on learning within a culture of mutual respect.
- The quality of the school building is high and facilities for learning are excellent.
Above all else i would like the young people at Parkwood to feel safe, to enjoy their time at the school, to achieve their full potential, to make a positive contribution to the school community and to be able to leave the school as confident young people ready to face the challenges of adulthood.
You will find that Parkwood is a listening school. We listen to what the students say to us and we listen to parents and carers. As parents and carers you have trusted us with the education of your son or daughter. Our challenge is to work with you to achieve the best for your son or daughter. As in all partnerships there will be times when there are difficult issues that need discusiing. If you are unsure or unhappy about anything at all, or you feel you need some advice about education then please do no hesitate to contact the school. We will ensure that we involve you fully in the education of your son or daughter.
I look forward to your son or daughter joining the school and also to working with you over the coming years.
