Parent Group
Here is what 2 of our members have to say;
Hi my name is Tina Moore. I have 2 children attending Parkwood High School. Until I recently moved house I was an active member of the parents group. It was great to be involved in the school and see just how things worked from the inside. Also it was nice to give my opinion and have a say about what happens in our children’s daily schooling. I also helped with fundraising. Here I am at the Parkwood High School Summer Fayre. We had a wonderful time with the teachers, pupils and other parents. It was a great day where everyone enjoyed themselves. I also attended a beginner’s course on Deaf Awareness. I enjoyed this so much when a course came up with an accreditation I jumped at the chance. This gave me an OCN Level 2 Accreditation. This gave me the confidence to seek out voluntary employment where I became a part time voluntary carer.

Hi, my name is Carol Ridley and even though this wasn’t my catchment school, I chose to send my son Sam here in September 2004. As an ex pupil of this school I decided I would like to become involved in the school in someway. I therefore became a founder member of the parent’s group which started back in October 2004. We have helped raise funds for the school with our Christmas & Summer Fayre and Fashion Show. We also provided refreshments for school concerts and plays. My baking skills always seem to be well appreciated. This year I decided I would like to be even more involved and therefore became a School Governor. This is a very interesting role and although a higher commitment is required on my part, I do feel that my observations, opinions and input are needed to give a wider view, before decisions affecting our children are made. I would really like to encourage other parents to become involved in the school in whatever way they feel able. All parents are welcome to join us on a Wednesday morning for a chat over a cuppa and get involved if they feel able or join one of Sue Powell’s courses to improve their own skills or take up a new hobby.
